A recent poll by Accelerant Research, tapping into its Agora USA online insights community, offers a snapshot of the shopping behaviors of 500 Americans during the Thanksgiving weekend, shedding light on when, where, and what consumers will be focusing on this year.

An impressive 60% of Americans are gearing up to shop the Black Friday sales. This year, strategic timing is key, with the majority of shoppers planning to hit the stores Friday between 6am-10am.

On average, shoppers intend to visit about 3.5 stores, balancing the desire to compare deals with the efficiency of a targeted approach. The front-runners for the first store visit are online giant Amazon, Walmart, and Target.

Electronics reign supreme on the shopping lists, with products such as "laptop," "television," and "tablet" dominating the conversation. This trend mirrors the wider industry statistics for 2023, where electronics continue to be a top draw for Black Friday discounts, attracting tech enthusiasts and bargain hunters alike.

Interestingly, the survey also tapped into sentiments around holiday merchandising, finding that 27% of consumers are ready to see holiday items on shelves right after Halloween.

Whether it's updating tech gadgets or scoring the perfect gift, Black Friday remains a pivotal moment to maximize savings as the holiday season kicks into full gear.
